Choo-choo
Some sessions just feel like coming home, and this one was exactly that.
I’ve known the T family for years now, which means there’s already a level of comfort that you can’t fake. The kids don’t need time to warm up to me, and I don’t need to guess at their personalities. I already know what I’m walking into, and honestly, I look forward to it every single time.
We met at Colebrookdale Train Station, which is one of my new favorite spots to shoot. There’s something about it that just works. The textures, the character, the little pockets of light everywhere you turn. It gives so much variety without having to go far, and it always adds this timeless feel to the images.
And then there are these two…
Their little boy is exactly what you’d expect in the best way. Wild, curious, always moving, always exploring. The kind of kid who keeps everyone on their toes and somehow makes the session more fun because of it. You don’t pose a child like that. You follow them, you laugh with them, and you let them be exactly who they are.
And his sister, the complete opposite in the sweetest way. Thoughtful, smart, observant. She takes everything in before she gives it back, and when she does, it’s magic. The kind of kid who doesn’t need a lot of direction because she just gets it.
Watching them together is my favorite part. That mix of energy and calm, chaos and quiet. It’s real, it’s honest, and it’s exactly what I want families to remember when they look back at their photos years from now.
Sessions like this aren’t about perfect smiles or everyone looking at the camera at the same time. They’re about connection. About who your kids are right now in this season. The wild, the calm, and everything in between.
And getting to document that for a family I’ve known and loved for years… that never gets old.
